I started painting these guys back in January, but I am not very good at sticking to projects and so here they still were unpainted in April. My husband and I are doing a "slow grow" 250 points at a time, I was going to do Word Bearers, as I need to paint those too, but then Games Workshop released Adrax Agatone and I therefore was obliged to do a Salamanders Primaris army.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These 250 points were supposed to be painted in January, but now we are on government mandated lockdown I finally got round to finishing them.</div>

I quite liked painting his cape, though I'm glad I don't have to repeat the process because it was a lot of making stuff up as I went along. I really like how it came out, though.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Maybe I'll finish the miniatures I planned to paint in March before it is, in fact, May.</div>

There's just something undeniably cool about Chaos, it's unapologetic.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Knights are also awesome, and so when Games Workshop released their Chaos knight kit I had to have one.</div>

Yesterday was Warhammer day, and games workshop released a few limited things in celebration. One of those was a "paint your own" Space Marine Funko Pop.</div>
<div bis_size="{"x":16,"y":8,"w":653,"h":18,"abs_x":485,"abs_y":143}" style="text-align: center;">
My favourite chapter wasn't available when they released the prepainted unlimited ones, so it seemed like it would be a fun little project to paint a Salamander with a very large head.</div>
<div bis_size="{"x":16,"y":8,"w":653,"h":18,"abs_x":485,"abs_y":143}" style="text-align: center;">

I really like how he came out, I freehanded some fire onto him, and I think it worked well. I also think it is sort of apparent how much practice I have had painting fire.</div>

Phil also painted a Funko Pop, his is a Crimson Fist, <a href="http://www.nerv-impulse.net/2019/06/warhammer-day-diy-funko-pop.html">you can read about it on his blog.</a></div>

A little while ago, Games Workshop released this noise marine, I don't collect emperors children, or even particularly love Slaanesh, but I really like this miniature, so I decided to buy it just to paint.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="466" data-original-width="427" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGxL_Ra8GU7LAIxJTP6-4VP8Y48hoE7Knm7IWrUb3CbNGL3r6MMO_yJCejKPzxSS7PrC7kkRxMVlBpsIumtvTy67WTOO_7FS-35JTHGc4-XKYBnIcpfZ0JRD5euZJ9s4aBTCxRL-sKT6k/s1600/IMG_20190623_083210.jpg" /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I painted the whole marine with bright colours and gradients before painting black over quite a lot of it, the new contrast paints worked really well for that, I started the mini before they came out but then put him down for ages, so the bright colours are about half contrast and half traditional.</div>

Some other angles just to show a few more of the colours and patterns, I'm quite pleased with how this guy came out.</div>

This post isn't really 750 points of Salamanders, but I didn't know what else to title it, these are what I have painted this month, which when added to last month's Salamanders round out to 750 points.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
The next squad are some tactical marines with bolters, I had already painted these a few years ago, but I think my painting has improved so I decided to touch them up. I have included photographs of both before and after so you can see what I improved, hopefully you agree with me that it was worth the effort.</div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Last month I painted 500 points of Salamanders because me and Phil are doing a Horus Heresy escalation campaign, we started with 500 points for February, and we'll be increasing it by 250 points a month.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I haven't posted anything on here in almost three years apparently, but I'm very pleased with how these came out so I'm posting again.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Pyroclasts</td></tr>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Pyroclasts are really cool, so I am starting with five of them. We're playing the zone mortalis ruleset for our first few games, and their combination melta/flamethrowers work really well there. I love these models, I'll be painting five more this month.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Breacher Marines</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Breachers, because I need a compulsory troops choice. the black still shows through the gradient on a few of their shields, but I really liked the gradient so I didn't want to go over it again. I'll put a better basecoat down next time I am painting this sort of thing. Their sergeant has a third party shield to help to mark him out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So that's my first 500 points of salamanders, I have many, many more salamander models so I should be able to keep on escalating for a while before I run out.</div>

I got Sandeep's box from Gencon, so that's probably coming next, but I've finished my Miss Fire bonus model, and I didn't want to wait to post her, so I've gathered together my finished models that haven't yet been posted.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Lazarus</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFKbd8tk-kTGeEFo6jse7C6MF2NPWlSzkc4QEOKtf3VWLkDj_pBFe90XiQ7d0d3zyZBPJLYClZqYvKheaTNm3xLjl1_sgyYpNvaQEflT_cz7aYfgyHxJ-XbjM27k8XAWWP8KDV3bv_ouQ/s1600/SAM_0365.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFKbd8tk-kTGeEFo6jse7C6MF2NPWlSzkc4QEOKtf3VWLkDj_pBFe90XiQ7d0d3zyZBPJLYClZqYvKheaTNm3xLjl1_sgyYpNvaQEflT_cz7aYfgyHxJ-XbjM27k8XAWWP8KDV3bv_ouQ/s1600/SAM_0365.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
I wanted a Lazarus with blue pipes, but I'm not sure that's even a thing any more, so red pipes it is. I like him though, he was interesting to build. I totally understand why Wyrd didn't make any other models the way they did Lazarus, though. He's more complicated to build than really pays off.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Soulstone Miners</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAGdRVXCVi_e1SIqmOB68nCaod9YvfRV_sXl1DcnvMQ7iOwjNEZf2kG5rcgXuPqo1gX4CQ2pMjim_PlDxz07HO2U88F2Pr2IS1n-lvMrf8NJYEQCpTaZvCnSTgR0arfo-mvRw9m08iRoY/s1600/SAM_0369.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAGdRVXCVi_e1SIqmOB68nCaod9YvfRV_sXl1DcnvMQ7iOwjNEZf2kG5rcgXuPqo1gX4CQ2pMjim_PlDxz07HO2U88F2Pr2IS1n-lvMrf8NJYEQCpTaZvCnSTgR0arfo-mvRw9m08iRoY/s1600/SAM_0369.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
Not thrilling minis, easy to build and paint though so they have that going for them</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Union Miners</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6JJDHJ5fTicdhskHgWeF0ycWAYb7rPYxWjoF-GzQKkQksdV3b6foMLVZ7Qw5gE6ghkXTlUWT5cmeuXw5Wu-LzD7eJVZSV7rGlt2fLzHUyjdPzAY47BBPkLZmRblXCya7JIQR4YZNKvW8/s1600/SAM_0370.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6JJDHJ5fTicdhskHgWeF0ycWAYb7rPYxWjoF-GzQKkQksdV3b6foMLVZ7Qw5gE6ghkXTlUWT5cmeuXw5Wu-LzD7eJVZSV7rGlt2fLzHUyjdPzAY47BBPkLZmRblXCya7JIQR4YZNKvW8/s1600/SAM_0370.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
These guys are kinda cool, I like the one with the dynamite. They look nice standing next to my rail workers, they're beefier looking but not in a way that looks badly scaled, they're just more muscley dudes. I suppose swinging giant hammers and axes around will do that.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Miss Fire</h3>
<div>

She's a very cool miniature who was a real pain to build, much more fiddly than I thought she would be. I like how she's turned out though.</div>

I love painting individual models that have character, and that's what this box is all about. Each one took me longer than average, but I think it was worth it looking at them all together. The seven deadly sins theme is neat, and it was interesting what they did for each one.<br />
<br />
<h3>

Their glorious leader, I should have painted his spirits before I glued him on, but I didn't because I never do. He looks scared not angry, probably his lack of eyebrows. Maybe I should have given him some angry eyebrows.</div>

Snake! I enjoyed painting this guy far more than I thought I would, mostly because of the snake. The tiny dolls on the drum are also cute.</div>

Giant walking organ that is also a minigun, because why not? I have done tiny music on his music sheet as well, but I couldn't get a picture of that without spoiling the view of the rest of the model.</div>

What's not to like? I've wanted to paint these for ages, and have had Rasputina's alt model in the back of my cabinet, but I just recently found the budget to acquire the rest of her things, I've based them on the same bases as the rest of my Malifaux miniatures, but I've added some snow flock to make them look a bit more wintery.<br />
<br />

This is by far my favourite sculpt of Raspy, I didn't even build the plastic that came in her box, because floating ice witch.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>

<div>
Rasputina's totem required me to paint an entire model as its base, the crazy little dude that he is. He's kinda awesome though so I'll let him off.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Snow Storm</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUj-nASOn-FsV_zcFMVFrSmzdIgtPLgTqRgpAAVuT33hkpWZobFktylT4KFeC6_RMEWoItEJPLOY0uPvCPcu1kcTaOk4giirU_Wyn7pRj_fMk2zwKiZbINA3uJReQGCM1vT_1QIBYpHf0/s1600/SAM_0269.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUj-nASOn-FsV_zcFMVFrSmzdIgtPLgTqRgpAAVuT33hkpWZobFktylT4KFeC6_RMEWoItEJPLOY0uPvCPcu1kcTaOk4giirU_Wyn7pRj_fMk2zwKiZbINA3uJReQGCM1vT_1QIBYpHf0/s1600/SAM_0269.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
I think I did a good job on Storm's face, he's the big one. There is a lot of green stuff in this model, but it worked in the end.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Acolytes of December</h3>

These chicks were kind of fiddly, both to build and paint, but they look quite neat. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Silent Ones</h3>

<div>
I really like the crouching one, the standing one is making a rather rude gesture. I think they both came our quite well though.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Ice Golem</h3>

<div>
This guy is huge, he barely fits on his base. So much cooler than the old metal ice golem who was kind of weedy looking, this one looks like he could punch someone's face off.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Ice Gamin</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihpG-gDCJrD9xEWY7wqKABsVKqTyplxJUkxcczd1jWaA70gUTV2pBx-WDKfI2qRgTmyKGR98A-CDg_gy8Xnl7H9lMGFo5rCRTHLdTbgpV9JDoCAuRGbbMdBRz5RirHDAEnfR8dycQijIQ/s1600/SAM_0288.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihpG-gDCJrD9xEWY7wqKABsVKqTyplxJUkxcczd1jWaA70gUTV2pBx-WDKfI2qRgTmyKGR98A-CDg_gy8Xnl7H9lMGFo5rCRTHLdTbgpV9JDoCAuRGbbMdBRz5RirHDAEnfR8dycQijIQ/s1600/SAM_0288.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
These are the opposite of the golem, in that they are tiny. I kept thinking I was going to break them with my paint brush.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Hans</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi514KAl-yH-4G3oTl90bM5A49967-bpOTbdf__DOflpMdB0-3EJpcsFFtYRnJwa-Q5AhS7lASD596wl15a7o7y5Qu_BEeYDQnh-9OYQRnEiNovIOr5mGJScPiAL0tzqfawodw4n4bp6hQ/s1600/SAM_0298.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi514KAl-yH-4G3oTl90bM5A49967-bpOTbdf__DOflpMdB0-3EJpcsFFtYRnJwa-Q5AhS7lASD596wl15a7o7y5Qu_BEeYDQnh-9OYQRnEiNovIOr5mGJScPiAL0tzqfawodw4n4bp6hQ/s1600/SAM_0298.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
Because every post needs an unthemed miniature at the end or something. I have also finished painting Hans. I like his tiny cigarette, and also that he kind of looks like Vash the Stampede if he had chosen a more sensible coat.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

I haven't bought her new plastic box and so I haven't titled this post with its name, but I do have all the things that would be in it, if not the exact models.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Kaeris</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio5heo07ajTMw8gTXHwMCQjDH1u1ahORK7SnIu4_wdNgxFyF5vB-04KCHYCCRvjs5fso4fEm0fcThto48cH7hLgmKWT29aJsPOdVnJwp44bAYhIakwo6-2icOjaaiomxp_0a58u_nQSl8/s1600/SAM_0224.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio5heo07ajTMw8gTXHwMCQjDH1u1ahORK7SnIu4_wdNgxFyF5vB-04KCHYCCRvjs5fso4fEm0fcThto48cH7hLgmKWT29aJsPOdVnJwp44bAYhIakwo6-2icOjaaiomxp_0a58u_nQSl8/s1600/SAM_0224.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
My pictures have come out dark today, I think it's due to it being night, and so there is no extra sunlight coming in. I really like how her wings turned out, I stuck to the gold of the old artwork rather than the new paler wings she has gained, as they match her story better and also I like gold.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Eternal Flame</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh36iTQ7PMwJS9H5y8XJUdZmWZLUl1OgylS9e5zZ3_RVhLhw5zAx_1_n8M6gK1KVncBlDooStD22JIL9pHG7YynFheGSQHt4FImKicUq03AFt84gwWP8m8KyefYrHWZ9H0HZQoE_C2H1ww/s1600/SAM_0232.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh36iTQ7PMwJS9H5y8XJUdZmWZLUl1OgylS9e5zZ3_RVhLhw5zAx_1_n8M6gK1KVncBlDooStD22JIL9pHG7YynFheGSQHt4FImKicUq03AFt84gwWP8m8KyefYrHWZ9H0HZQoE_C2H1ww/s400/SAM_0232.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
I thought I was going to have to but the box to get this one even though the Malifaux Child is probably better with Kaeris, but then the Malifaux Raptors were released with a special edition stickered box containing a random mini from Burning Revelation, so I bought them (Raptors are cool) and was lucky enough to get the totem. In dayglow orange, but I painted over that.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Malifaux Child</h3>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh23wzDCyddjECA-AyWlH4-s_jgBjPEVm5SXPQaZWbHak-wX0rQj6udJ9TLgmFaiYSgzkgHXrXZpwyj518xQSpH_tS65zpeo6NLJ99vXwhPFalPghdVziAk1do8OsRMbyUwXXs9QWyb-tA/s1600/SAM_0236.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh23wzDCyddjECA-AyWlH4-s_jgBjPEVm5SXPQaZWbHak-wX0rQj6udJ9TLgmFaiYSgzkgHXrXZpwyj518xQSpH_tS65zpeo6NLJ99vXwhPFalPghdVziAk1do8OsRMbyUwXXs9QWyb-tA/s400/SAM_0236.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
A mercenary totem, but I bought him for Kaeris really. Small children probably shouldn't play with rusty hand scythes.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Firestarter</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg47If_Sg6bFxn8_YUVVjiM3hWE1LegykSyl1tTY-17GRcJPBDUU81Crx7vJhynH4c1aGp3juKK54_51hGzSBU2hJ5s5b7KRpSNcfcd1S-59V2I9oMuh6zYg6nlGQVVmKHrSz2kFBy2A7U/s1600/SAM_0240.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg47If_Sg6bFxn8_YUVVjiM3hWE1LegykSyl1tTY-17GRcJPBDUU81Crx7vJhynH4c1aGp3juKK54_51hGzSBU2hJ5s5b7KRpSNcfcd1S-59V2I9oMuh6zYg6nlGQVVmKHrSz2kFBy2A7U/s1600/SAM_0240.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
I love this miniature, it's so much cooler than the standard one. Also I think I did a good job on the paint.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Fire Gamin</h3>

Not too much to say about these, they're Gamin, they're made of fire. </div>

He's in here because he's M&SU and Kaeris is my last M&SU master. I like this old metal much better than the new plastic one, who is some kind of giant man. Johanna is cool, but also hard to get.</div>

I still have many more malifaux miniatures to paint before I have caught up to myself, so this is not the last. Ironside and her friends were my next project, what with her being an M&SU master like Ramos, so here she is:<br />
<br />
<h3>
Ironside</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHCC04kYcXEWwifyElQi5eB0V6HVkxVpkL1k3VuPXG-0vepJb92OO8mJhgUauJ7HFOtBqq81HkSuG-czTv1Oe-gJcrmjTDBtoOYL4ldvqEM6hiAVlGAnMcFIvmwp88rjBHWKYW65R8qjA/s1600/SAM_0192.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHCC04kYcXEWwifyElQi5eB0V6HVkxVpkL1k3VuPXG-0vepJb92OO8mJhgUauJ7HFOtBqq81HkSuG-czTv1Oe-gJcrmjTDBtoOYL4ldvqEM6hiAVlGAnMcFIvmwp88rjBHWKYW65R8qjA/s1600/SAM_0192.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
The leader of our band of trouble<strike>maker</strike>shooters. Toni is quite understated as a model, which I like but made her difficult to paint in a really stand out sort of way.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>

With all of the gold trim, I'd let you off thinking he was in charge. I suppose he must be in charge of something to be a captain.</div>

These guys were fun to paint, I love wooshy cloaks. I think their blue fire looks neat too. They were the miniatures from the Ironside box I was most excited to build and paint, and they did not disappoint me.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>

<div>
Cowboys. But cowboys with goggles on so that you can tell they are from Malifaux. Actually I don't think the girl has any goggles on, but her hat would hide them pretty well even if she did. These are not especially themed with Toni, but as with many of these things, I painted them at the same time so am posting them now. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>

<div>
A second miniature that isn't Toni's and just happens to be ready to be posted now, this one is even an outcast mercenary! I think he looks like Hugh Jackman. My husband and I split a box of these guys, and I got the one I like best because he is nice to me.</div>

So I decided that I'd take the opportunity to make something cool.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Scheme Markers</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbT-qyLARxvDOnoJf5UahYm9LbVDB-0IBrkt7aBgUe91NRpkHjTcYHdEI4wa0MbLl0grSCc9jki6XEcPzEIyZHFCV0ldWktsGfJr8AIHETtUlmQWJkPt8ib4j7vk1t6Tf6fjOaQEXjiMg/s1600/SAM_0177.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="256" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbT-qyLARxvDOnoJf5UahYm9LbVDB-0IBrkt7aBgUe91NRpkHjTcYHdEI4wa0MbLl0grSCc9jki6XEcPzEIyZHFCV0ldWktsGfJr8AIHETtUlmQWJkPt8ib4j7vk1t6Tf6fjOaQEXjiMg/s400/SAM_0177.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
The Schemiest schemer I have is Colette, and she really loves dropping scheme markers, so I made ten. I like the idea of tiny cards marking things in a game where cards are a resource. The cards are 1:12 scale doll house cards that I bought from a Chinese seller through Ebay.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Scrap Markers</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUmmQujcd5gG-I6SsYkuo-bAvRfhv8rK7cKzRjri2GOmWQNDtCXzoV-dCVVNutOq0EoBy5ZSBSHUNYta98GFXmJOlktfZ0hZeJc4jTJrh3mhM7oifYqMM04b9btMcA9cxdnn8hU2jPW-A/s1600/SAM_0175.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="216" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUmmQujcd5gG-I6SsYkuo-bAvRfhv8rK7cKzRjri2GOmWQNDtCXzoV-dCVVNutOq0EoBy5ZSBSHUNYta98GFXmJOlktfZ0hZeJc4jTJrh3mhM7oifYqMM04b9btMcA9cxdnn8hU2jPW-A/s400/SAM_0175.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
As I mentioned in my post about my Ramos crew, initially I was going to base all of my miniatures on watch parts like these. It's quite a lot of effort to cover up with a miniature, and I like how they look unpainted though so I figured it would be a great way to do my scrap markers. Initially I made five, but then I actually played Ramos summoning spiders against someone who insisted on blowing up every spider, and five just was not enough.</div>
Helenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06188906576127199022noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593613599372596200.post-30480149519124398492016-05-21T11:47:00.000-07:002016-05-22T01:14:56.319-07:00Malifaux: The M&SUMore miniatures! One day I will make a post about something else, but today is not that day.<br />
Ramos and his friends were the first minis I bought for Malifaux back in the day, but on re-entering the game for M2E I had to re-buy his box anyway, because I wanted Joss and even more metal spiders.<br />
Anyway, on to the models:<br />
<h3>
Ramos</h3>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdO1s0ibRVgS0ex5nqkLJEAhyphenhyphenZreM-ynYiVuiZGc81PLUOP8qVDKtnFdt4kpD3tWaKD6shtYx21FfLuIDjOsO7GFxUejDh3aYBa7fKh-6lZePGgX8YomEiFMxR3-f8txdkysjwsTzb6DA/s1600/SAM_0160.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdO1s0ibRVgS0ex5nqkLJEAhyphenhyphenZreM-ynYiVuiZGc81PLUOP8qVDKtnFdt4kpD3tWaKD6shtYx21FfLuIDjOsO7GFxUejDh3aYBa7fKh-6lZePGgX8YomEiFMxR3-f8txdkysjwsTzb6DA/s1600/SAM_0160.JPG" /></a><br />
Viktor Ramos himself, head of the M&SU in Malifaux. I like the old metal model better than the new plastic, so here he is. I also monogrammed his bag, but you can't see from this angle. I don't know why he has yellow on his leg in the photo, he doesn't in actuality so it must have been the light.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Ramos: Avatar of Invention</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4M9M6QF20M8uvwwVNWcH7MaZ3W6LlH7cOYbiwEJSglhK1IcPwLw9vBkQoHrNEEet83cbiYVBqx3N4wnc9JGa1kw9noiGxRTqtms1-yrzvrAftWeUkwFDaGqyUqj6SSVG18Wko_vqkF8I/s1600/SAM_0155.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4M9M6QF20M8uvwwVNWcH7MaZ3W6LlH7cOYbiwEJSglhK1IcPwLw9vBkQoHrNEEet83cbiYVBqx3N4wnc9JGa1kw9noiGxRTqtms1-yrzvrAftWeUkwFDaGqyUqj6SSVG18Wko_vqkF8I/s1600/SAM_0155.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
For use as the arcane emissary, at least until that model comes out. I should have taken the picture at an angle you could see his face at. But I didn't.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Brass Arachnid</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXjK9w6EVTdxBffpdKnNhkqbdCiR_Z9fyWZ15cnkREwnCKPYVvvVWPdYD4dUeepAK58fuelZBenz4tJ8uMdaFkrBG046ChlVu3I-XLnZ10_Lvs0GY8kPunjz8luNopHfyCCSlvTsLQA4s/s1600/SAM_0156.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXjK9w6EVTdxBffpdKnNhkqbdCiR_Z9fyWZ15cnkREwnCKPYVvvVWPdYD4dUeepAK58fuelZBenz4tJ8uMdaFkrBG046ChlVu3I-XLnZ10_Lvs0GY8kPunjz8luNopHfyCCSlvTsLQA4s/s1600/SAM_0156.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
I don't know what Wyrd were thinking when they decided that this was an appropriate size for a miniature on a 30mm base. It was very challenging getting him to stay put even with creative posing.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Large Arachnid</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqIBcLv4V3hd52nJhACjTPFBfjm_Us2Udzao7rWBhWygTjiZ7Vnl5yz5UwMMEkK13bfERkChiUrmlPSE28onSk1rmcRty00S4wCuB5ewx_d_lMN5IUT2St-LsVW3Eiv2MHUr8_1faDYbo/s1600/SAM_0164.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqIBcLv4V3hd52nJhACjTPFBfjm_Us2Udzao7rWBhWygTjiZ7Vnl5yz5UwMMEkK13bfERkChiUrmlPSE28onSk1rmcRty00S4wCuB5ewx_d_lMN5IUT2St-LsVW3Eiv2MHUr8_1faDYbo/s1600/SAM_0164.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
Another from the last edition of metals, not a super inspiring miniature, and a pain to build as well from what I remember. I hope the new plastics are better.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Joss</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWDf39lEGKMGZh3zpJAPphveyv5BC3dhqj-VN5tJaYDO5HzVUU8mNq6T8Co7eyC8juARfIWAx1jOs5OKQeFB9Cxl_Wf2_FOPpDwEhbhw716UkVAwrUPvtnYkmoXxKLzDnZWhFTVnKxJ9c/s1600/SAM_0157.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWDf39lEGKMGZh3zpJAPphveyv5BC3dhqj-VN5tJaYDO5HzVUU8mNq6T8Co7eyC8juARfIWAx1jOs5OKQeFB9Cxl_Wf2_FOPpDwEhbhw716UkVAwrUPvtnYkmoXxKLzDnZWhFTVnKxJ9c/s1600/SAM_0157.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
Way to focus on the axe instead of his face, me. I quite like this guy, he has a very sort of 80s vibe, at least he does the way I painted him. I'm quite prod of his mouth, all the paint stayed where I wanted it to for once.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Howard Langston</h3>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUnhNw2GnHE238zu4Aa69KyKN0vKCNc46f_lX1WQRSXQkjnU_jacmBAvoG4Y2x8HUUxxA0D9k-8VPCkbXyjmvAYKQ8gamcZKlCGJ4HpZLGdUepU9mZrbePJGOHqbBnZG9_ExQ7DnTEYDQ/s1600/SAM_0154.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUnhNw2GnHE238zu4Aa69KyKN0vKCNc46f_lX1WQRSXQkjnU_jacmBAvoG4Y2x8HUUxxA0D9k-8VPCkbXyjmvAYKQ8gamcZKlCGJ4HpZLGdUepU9mZrbePJGOHqbBnZG9_ExQ7DnTEYDQ/s1600/SAM_0154.JPG" /></a></div>
<div>
This one I painted before I stopped playing the first time, which is why he is based differently to everyone else. Gluing down all the watch parts was annoying though, and it didn't look as cool as I wanted it to. I have made my scrap markers in a similar way though, eventually I will post a picture of them. I like this model of Howard better than both of the newer plastics, which is good, because I hate replacing painted miniatures.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<div>
The other model I painted a few years back. He is sort of riffing off voltorb with his red top half, because he blows himself up.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>

This one was kinda boring to paint. I like the effect I got with the green paint wearing off on the top there though.</div>

Ramos summons a lot of spiders, and there was no real way to paint them all differently without it looking odd. Initially I thought of painting all their little eyes a different colour, but that probably wouldn't have been obvious enough, so I gave them coloured base rims instead.</div>

Same idea as their single friends. I'm glad I still have the old metal spider models, fitting three of the newer ones onto a single base would have been harder, as they are bigger.</div>

I seem to be putting a model that isn't really themed for the crew at the bottom of all of these posts, so here is the effigy. I have put tiny pretend writing in his books, which looks cool, but I didn't take the photo from an angle where you can see it so you'll just have to trust me.</div>

The painting crusade continues with Mei Feng and her rail crew. I've only played these guys once, but it was fun.<br />
<br />
<br />
<h3>
Mei Feng</h3>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRNIO6cRLSKOgdUAhJYf_sf2_r1hOyDz-gIYYcToZ7uyvjsgzYs4z9Iy7dp1ww1FZohY-_JhQib3lBlD6N2VHJbXAk9zqO6qJSXXggi7ZRTWCqZH2GFcs2KkeVhrqLYO2MUdpsy9348ic/s1600/SAM_0110.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRNIO6cRLSKOgdUAhJYf_sf2_r1hOyDz-gIYYcToZ7uyvjsgzYs4z9Iy7dp1ww1FZohY-_JhQib3lBlD6N2VHJbXAk9zqO6qJSXXggi7ZRTWCqZH2GFcs2KkeVhrqLYO2MUdpsy9348ic/s1600/SAM_0110.JPG" /></a><br />
Mei looks like she needs a bigger base when you build her, but actually she fits quite nicely onto 30mm jumping from her broken wood.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Emberling</h3>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh2EyymL5y0EnBCOK6QzmmzbMS9gbPP8Li0_MVM9VkOeXyb-Mw026HDurEM2N2fx25W0culx0rrRBHhEYPA4fzc6UGniZxDa5lPoJSEuS7i3lvQAdmeuXQEj90sT1wutGWuOrJMF46bb8/s1600/SAM_0115.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh2EyymL5y0EnBCOK6QzmmzbMS9gbPP8Li0_MVM9VkOeXyb-Mw026HDurEM2N2fx25W0culx0rrRBHhEYPA4fzc6UGniZxDa5lPoJSEuS7i3lvQAdmeuXQEj90sT1wutGWuOrJMF46bb8/s1600/SAM_0115.JPG" /></a><br />
Mei's totem. I tried to make it look a bit like lava flow, I don't know how well I succeeded but I think it's pretty cool.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Kang</h3>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9x185uqjyk9BydHmtP6FeM6xwsfsnZYZ5BIEa2InXKLaX5vExEAmpzts8Oo3DmpkB3NKyCduHCy-qZ2CN7nx1WhVO0u0setY8b0zK4IHacokcj6sTXXPbg75tqu5rva9Xy3m8KX_gD4s/s1600/SAM_0112.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9x185uqjyk9BydHmtP6FeM6xwsfsnZYZ5BIEa2InXKLaX5vExEAmpzts8Oo3DmpkB3NKyCduHCy-qZ2CN7nx1WhVO0u0setY8b0zK4IHacokcj6sTXXPbg75tqu5rva9Xy3m8KX_gD4s/s1600/SAM_0112.JPG" /></a><br />
He has some model railway coal stuck to him. I think it looks neat in his shovel. Malifaux miners aren't really mining for coal, but call it artistic license.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Rail Workers</h3>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhElQnONZPbv71ekjv-8iB0rIr69gKVFXv6rMBj-luQ33ftH304LKpN9meDbrKBIYFOQ5fZLMyUcctrDIWh-h6fwvrO2Kda4NmEkKzgkIdLQVDSgyhQqUli1wsH0l1IHTgldmzRs-xeXdo/s1600/SAM_0123.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhElQnONZPbv71ekjv-8iB0rIr69gKVFXv6rMBj-luQ33ftH304LKpN9meDbrKBIYFOQ5fZLMyUcctrDIWh-h6fwvrO2Kda4NmEkKzgkIdLQVDSgyhQqUli1wsH0l1IHTgldmzRs-xeXdo/s1600/SAM_0123.JPG" /></a><br />
Obviously rail working in Malifaux is a bit dangerous, none of these guys still have all their limbs. They got replaced with some cool machinery though. You almost feel bad for the guy who still has two hands and so has to hold his hammer like a luddite.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Metal Gamin</h3>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgq9GSORxhar6pDcQfBQo-PSSOKWt9oD9XZ6oRACIgp8daO80FCARDQl84cPzny27lggqZaPoyxZiDjPAaj5J8-irrsKDXZ23ME0gb1qmQ_oRXXvCNwJQ6ChNA-DV3poaUbCvKplWsTuN0/s1600/SAM_0122.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgq9GSORxhar6pDcQfBQo-PSSOKWt9oD9XZ6oRACIgp8daO80FCARDQl84cPzny27lggqZaPoyxZiDjPAaj5J8-irrsKDXZ23ME0gb1qmQ_oRXXvCNwJQ6ChNA-DV3poaUbCvKplWsTuN0/s1600/SAM_0122.JPG" /></a><br />
I like the lizard one. His head is a bit fuzzy, it was a bit fuzzy in all the photos I took of them. I evidently need more practice with the camera.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Rail Golem</h3>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNv2lNtzI9bDC1RK2GOHypquN7nWXxzvBcffMjI5lxmfyPYQeucQ6Suu4gEksWV7il0_IQbpc7e3w0jvc8-S8mLf52gsY4rEwl-clTO0EvBEGAakHrdKO_7QSWtemZN19UOiqY-R8WVsY/s1600/SAM_0117.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNv2lNtzI9bDC1RK2GOHypquN7nWXxzvBcffMjI5lxmfyPYQeucQ6Suu4gEksWV7il0_IQbpc7e3w0jvc8-S8mLf52gsY4rEwl-clTO0EvBEGAakHrdKO_7QSWtemZN19UOiqY-R8WVsY/s1600/SAM_0117.JPG" /></a><br />
This guy is big, and yet he still manages to be a very simple model to paint. Mostly being just some metal.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Willie</h3>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSU2RQCRWZuWjHv3xZTp1GcHnDaS1IPqrCeF5pGuVX7Wrbl2ARtAla5MiH7g9LGyXNRRWOzZk9mIOGZVv6oLc86iADDcQcgdHrSN5fIb-Gc6vc9ugC2mS3LL7U9P5CsCXI_Bz23fhl1SU/s1600/SAM_0125.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSU2RQCRWZuWjHv3xZTp1GcHnDaS1IPqrCeF5pGuVX7Wrbl2ARtAla5MiH7g9LGyXNRRWOzZk9mIOGZVv6oLc86iADDcQcgdHrSN5fIb-Gc6vc9ugC2mS3LL7U9P5CsCXI_Bz23fhl1SU/s1600/SAM_0125.JPG" /></a><br />
Yes, that's his name. Much to my husband's delight as he teases me about my interactions with Willie.<br />
He's a mad demolition man with a cart full of dynamite, more dynamite in his bag, and a cigar. What could go wrong?<br />
<br />

Not really a thing Mei Feng wants to use all the time. But I've painted it now and it doesn't really go with anyone specifically. So I'll drop it in here.Helenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06188906576127199022noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593613599372596200.post-28902190181371825532016-05-01T02:22:00.003-07:002016-05-22T01:12:16.039-07:00Malifaux: Showgirls<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Lately I have been playing some Malifaux, because we went up north last holidays and that's what all of our friends play now, which has let to me painting the figures I've had in my cabinet for longer than I care to admit. It's a fairly interesting game, I think I like second edition better than first, but I don't really remember how first edition worked so I could just be suffering from confirmation bias. The card mechanic is sometimes a little too random for me, but the hand of cards does help and make you think through what you can get done in a turn. Bad hands are very damaging though.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I started with Colette and her showgirls, they aren't my oldest miniatures, I bought the M&SU with Ramos as my first master back in the day, but Colette is my favourite, so she got painted first.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Colette</span></h3>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;">

<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I'm quite pleased with how Colette turned out, and I still think her metal is much nicer than the new plastic which lacks personality. I have the alternate sculpts from her avatar as well, so at some point I'll paint those.</span></div>
